Our Films

26 Short Films will participate in the 5th Annual Wandering Reel Traveling Film Festival, showcased in the following four programs.

Program A: Is This Love?

Stories of compassion, connection, and adventure that question the awesome (and complex) power of love.

Synopsis: On family reunion day, Amelie feels out of place and lonely as her favorite cousin brings a lover over for the first time. Noticing their young passionate love, she allows her own fantasies to run wild, although some sensations are a lot more powerful than she thought.

A Tangled Tale

Directed by Corrie Francis Parks

Synopsis: In this unusual romance, hand-tinted sand, becomes a metaphor for two souls as they join and separate. A lonely fish, hooked by an angler's line, encounters another in the same dire situation. As the two struggle, the physical connection moves deeper. Is it love or merely a will to survive?

The Update

Where Do Cats Go After 9 Lives?

Synopsis: Lily-May decides to tell those closest to her about the choice she has made. She intends to end her life at an assisted suicide clinic. When the time of our own death is predetermined, is saying goodbye any easier?

Roof Knocking

Directed by Sina Salimi


Synopsis: In the continuous war between Israel and Palestine, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) invented a practice to make air strikes more efficient. Before bombing a civilian area, they call the inhabitants of the house, and inform them that their home is going to be bombed in less than 10 minutes. They call it Roof Knocking.

Program d: revisionist history

History rinses and repeats but is not always as we remember, or as we were taught. Tying the past into the present can be a warning, an opportunity to learn, and a celebration all at once.

Synopsis: In 2017, trans artists gained access to a 1950s archive of never-before-seen life histories of transgender people. Through reenactment and documentary, they revive the past to redefine the future.

A Night At The Garden

Synopsis: In 1939, 20,000 Americans rallied in New York’s Madison Square Garden to celebrate the rise of Nazism – an event largely forgotten from American history. Made entirely from archival footage filmed that night, A Night At The Garden transports audiences to this chilling gathering and shines a light on the power of demagoguery and anti-Semitism in the United States.

Counter Mapping

Directed by Adam Loften and Emmanuel Vaughan-Lee


Synopsis: Jim Enote, a traditional Zuni farmer and director of the A:shiwi A:wan Museum and Heritage Center, is working with Zuni artists to create maps that bring an indigenous voice and perspective back to the land, countering Western notions of place and geography and challenging the arbitrary borders imposed on the Zuni world.
